The town of Garah Garah is a sleepy little village situated 50km from Moree on the Carnarvon Highway on the way to Mungindi. Garah has a population of about 150 people in the village and around 200 people on surrounding properties.
Garah has a Hotel, School, Police Station, Post Office, Shop, Petrol Depot, S.E.S, Public Hall, 2 Churches, CWA Hall and Mechanic.
The main industry in the Garah area is wheat, sheep, cattle and cotton.
The famous Talmoi Races are held at the Garah Racecourse each year in June.
Garah Campdraft held at "Cwmteg" in August each year.
So don't just drive through Garah. Stop and enjoy a refreshing drink or a bite to eat. Have a chat to the friendly locals.
